Now, this isn't an insult to all you Gryffindorians out there! *nodnodnod* But have you ever noticed, that in pretty much every book // movie, there's some Mary Sue organization? The Warriors equivalent is ThunderClan, and the HP one is Gryffindor. You know; brave, willing to bend the rules to help a friend, kind, so on. It's just funny. =]
And don't try to deny it! >:]

I'd say Hufflepuff is the least Mary Sue-ish in HP. Some say Slytherin, but Slytherin has its own kind of dangerous glamour. ShadowClan is the Slytherin equivalent, and I'd say WindClan is Hufflepuff. =]

Yeah, RiverClan is Ravenclaw-ish.

Exactly. =] It's odd, usually I prefer the WindClan-ish like organizations, but I prefer Ravenclaw here. It's partly the name {xD}, and partly their... personality. Intellectuals. I imagine them kinda snobby and detached, but very intelligent. xD I find them amusing. Hufflepuff, I see as well-meaning, honest, hard working, but a bit dim individuals, and Slytherin are, of course, evil. And most of them have black or white-blond hair, weirdly enough. o.o

It's exactly like all Stories with several groups in them. Each have one to several identifiable personality traits that are present in almost all the members of the group. It makes it easier to align yourselves and decide who's point-of-view you'll view the story in. Um...For example...The Inheritance Cycle; the elves are graceful and kinda snobbish; the dragons are majestic and proud; the Dragonriders are, usually, noble and brave; the humans are the easily manipulated; Galbatorix's minions are cunning and deceiving. There, several groups to align yourself with and decide where your sympathies lie.
It just makes it a lot easier to understand the story, characters and plot.
